Assignment #4

1. What countries do you share you religion or religions with? List them.

The religion of Islam is shared with Pakistan, the UK, Russia, USA, France, Iran, and Israel.

2. Does your country object to any, all, or some religions of another country? Briefly explain.
The Taliban objects to any religion that is not Islam. They want to convert all people to Islam and have them be subjected to a very strict form of Sharia.

3. Define “Sharia.”

Sharia is the body of Islamic law set forth in the Koran.

4. What role does Sharia play in your country?

Many laws in Pakistan and Afghanistan are Sharia laws. Both countries are largely Muslim and govern their people based on Sharia to a certain extent. The Taliban would like to see a country ruled entirely according to Sharia.

5. What is the role of religion and state in your country?

Pakistan’s government and Islam are very closely tied. The state religion of Pakistan is Islam, and the official name of the country is The Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The same can be said of Afghanistan, officially the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. In a Taliban-controlled government, there would be absolutely no separation between religion and the state.

Assignment #3

1. What is the size of your military?
The Taliban has a fighting force of about 11,000 men.

2. List your country's weapons.
Because the Taliban is a guerilla organization, they do not control any weapons of mass destruction that are apparent to the rest of the world. They generally carry out attacks using improvised explosive devices and assault rifles.

In the sim, the Taliban's greatest enemy is Pakistan. Pakistan controls dozens of nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles that are capable of carrying those warheads short or medium distances.

3. For purposes of the sim, the Taliban is a nuclear power. The Taliban secured a compound which houses four nuclear warheads and medium range ballistic missiles.

4. Pakistan is bordered by Iran, Afghanistan, and India.

5. There are large Muslim populations in many countries in the countries surrounding Pakistan as well as many European countries. The Taliban feels invested in all of these countries and wish to have at least some official control over them.

Assignment #2

List five historical ties since 1914 between your country and the two other countries assigned for this homework.

  1. In 2006, the government of Pakistan signed a treaty with Taliban-controlled tribal areas in Pakistan and also withdrew troops from the area. In 2002, the government of the USA affirmed that The Taliban were under the full protection of the Geneva Conventions.

Has your country fought any significant wars, or battles, against each other, directly, indirectly, or through proxy since 1914? If so, list the ears or proxy wars these countries have fought against yours since 1914.

  1. The Taliban is currently fighting against the USA in the War on Terror. The Taliban also fought the USSR’s invasion of Afghanistan during the 1980s with the support of the United States. Once the Soviets withdrew and the US stopped supporting the Mujahideen, The Taliban formed. The Taliban also fight constantly with the armies of Middle Eastern countries when they are attempting to capture large and towns.

Does your country have any significant religious disagreements with the two other countries assigned that reach back through the centuries?

  1. The entire reason that The Taliban is constantly clashing with other countries and groups of people is that The Taliban wants to enforce an incredibly strict interpretation of Islamic law. Extremist Sunni Muslims comprise the group and have expressed that their goal is to impose their radical interpretation of Sharia and live life like people did in the time of the prophet Muhammad.

Historically has the relationship been your countries and the two other countries been amicable, hostile, or neutral.

  1. Historically, the Taliban has been in a constant state of conflict. When The Taliban governed Afghanistan, only Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates recognized them as the legitimate leaders of the country. After the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates both cut diplomatic ties with Afghanistan. The Taliban are currently fighting with governments of Middle Eastern countries while capturing large cities.

How do their government systems compare?

  1. Compared to governments of other countries, The Taliban is extremely oppressive, controlling almost every facet of life. The Taliban is also unique in that it is a complete theocracy, ruling entirely based on their interpretation of Sharia.

What major military and political treaties does your country share with the other countries since The Treaty of Versailles?

  1. In 2006, the government of Pakistan signed a treaty with Taliban-controlled tribal areas in Pakistan and also withdrew troops from the area. In 2002, the government of the USA affirmed that The Taliban were under the full protection of the Geneva Conventions.

Is your country currently recognized by the United Nations? If not, explain why.

  1. No. The Taliban currently does not control an entire country, so they can’t be recognized by the UN. The Taliban also has ties to large terrorist organizations and networks, and the UN condemns nearly everything the Taliban does.

Does your country share the same type of economic system as the two countries you are asked to compare? What is this type of economy? If they are different economies what is the difference between the two?

    8. The Taliban really doesn’t have an economic system, so I can’t compare it to any other countries.

Assignment #1

  1. What is your country’s governmental system? Provide a definition.

The Taliban’s government is a dictatorial oligarchy. It is run very secretly by a group of men from Kandahar. There are no elections to decide who rules. The Taliban tries to base its government off of other governments from the time of the Muslim prophet Muhammad 1400 years ago.

After the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US, the Taliban refuses to hand Osama Bin Laden over to the US.

The economy of Afghanistan under the Taliban was in a terrible state. The Taliban really just told farmers to grow more opium than they already were.

  1. To which country does your country owe the most money?

I couldn’t find anything to answer this.

    7. What is the numerical size of your standing and reserve armed forces?

It is estimated that the Taliban holds a fighting force of between 7,000 to 11,000 men.

    8.Are you a nuclear power?

The Taliban do not control any nuclear weapons yet. However, many believe that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons stock is at risk of being stolen by the Taliban.

  1. List your country’s five most important cultural values.

Anti-modernism, prohibition of cultural expression, strict enforcement and interpretation of sharia, simple lifestyle, prohibition of all drugs.

  1. To what extent, if any, does your government control media and culture?

The Taliban government completely controls media and culture. The Taliban does not allow for any sort of cultural expression, such as movies or theatrical performances. TV networks were completely shut down in 1996 and print media was forbidden from publishing any commentary or pictures.

The main and only religion of the Taliban is Islam. 100% of Taliban members are Muslim.

There are no religions besides Islam in the Taliban as the Taliban is an Islamist group.

  1. What is your government’s policy towards religion and state?

The Taliban believes in ruling the country based entirely on a radical interpretation of Islam. Church and state are one in the same.

Talks with the Press

Today, one of our spokesmen was able to speak to the press about the situation at hand.  Almost all asked whether or not we would be willing to come to any compromises in our negotiations.  We have made it clear that we do not wish to use deadly force for the sake of the safety of Muslims in the Middle East and for Muslims around the world.  Do not forget that Islam is the religion of peace.  If our demands are met or perhaps reasonable compromises raised, we will be peaceful.  However, do not take this as a sign of weakness.  We have shown repeatedly that we are deadly serious and will not hesitate to use force to attain our goals.

World leaders now seem to fully grasp how serious this situation is.  There is a general sense of panic and confusion in meetings of the UN.  Perhaps now people of the world will see through the western propaganda that portrays us as terrorists to the true, peaceful, holy face of the Taliban.

Countries now understand that they must meet our demands.  It is apparent to them now that the strategy of either not speaking to us at all or making absurd demands is tiring, and will only waste their time.  Every day the Muslim people are coming closer to having a holy, peaceful, stable nation to call their own that is free of Western occupation and corrupt morals.

The Dawning of a New Era

After the reading of our official statement, talks have already begun with world leaders.  People now understand how great our power truly is.  The Taliban is not just some rebel group that fights for a lost cause; We are a force to be reckoned with, and some leaders who share our goals and ideals have been wise enough to open negotiations with us.

Now that our demands are known, we can focus on restoring the peace and order that the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan and foreign occupation have destroyed.  We intend to establish an organized defense force to protect the citizens and replace the current set of perverted laws with Sharia.  In addition, a prohibition on all unnecessary activities which create strain on the mind and distract Muslims from their study of Koran will be instituted.  Music, movies, dancing, sorcery, and shaving of beards will be prohibited in order to ensure a pure Muslim society.

We expect to hear more from world leaders in the following days.

A Glorious Day

The holy warriors of the Taliban fighting force have successfully secured a number of nuclear weapons.  No longer will the East be corrupted and destroyed by the perverted morals and values of the West.  In light of recent events, we have several demands that must be met.

First, the people of Pakistan have made it clear that they want new leadership.  The incompetent leaders have shown their weakness to the world as we captured their stockpile of nuclear weapons.  They must be replaced at once.  In addition, Sharia must replace the current set of morally corrupt laws in place, and Sharia courts replace the slow and ineffective courts in place now.

Second, all foreign militaries must leave the Middle East in no longer than one month.  It is necessary that peace be restored to the people here.

Third, an official Muslim state must be established in the souther Philippines to accomodate our brothers in The Pacific.

Fourth, Israel must no longer be considered a state as the land belongs to the Muslim people.

Fifth, all holy warriors of the Taliban who are being held as hostages in foreign nations must be safely returned to us.

Lastly, we require 80 billion Rupees to stabilize Pakistan and Afghanistan and provide basic necessities to the people of our region.

If our demands are not met promptly, we will take action against Israel.

American Aistrikes Kill Innocent People in Afghanistan

Many in Afghanistan are outraged over the airstrikes carried out by the army of the USA.  Hundreds of innocent people in villages in the Farah Province have been killed and many more wounded as a result of the attack by the imperialistic Americans.  Citizens took to the streets in protest of these war crimes.

The American government has blamed the massacre on a unit of the Aghan fighting force.

These murders are despicable and will not be tolerated.

Government of Pakistan Displaces Hundreds of Thousands

In a military operation on their own soil, the Government of Pakistan has already displaced over 250,000 civilians in the Swat Valley.  It is estimated that upwards of 500,000 civilians will be displaced by this ridiculous operation.
The holy warriors of the Taliban are fighting off the army of Pakistan in order to restore peace to Swat.
